The Weekend Sun Competition
Hamilton rock and metal band Devilskin will be touring New Zealand this October, including a stop at ASB Arena on Friday October 20.
They'll be supported by another female-fronted hard rock band, Canadians Sumo Cyco.
Devilskin bassist Paul Martin has been amped to start the tour since it was announced a few weeks ago.
“We're really excited about it. We've been spending a lot of time overseas lately, and we're stoked to do a decent circuit back home. I'm keen for it to start it already!”
The video for their single ‘Believe in Me' was uploaded to YouTube in August, and was filmed on an English country estate during their time in the United Kingdom.
“We thought the location suited the song perfectly. There's places like that everywhere in England, it's pretty amazing. If you can get epic images attached to your song, people can feel the vibe you're trying to put out.”
New Zealanders have definitely been feeling the Devilskin vibe. The band featured in the Top 50 of the recent Rock 1500 countdown, with their song ‘Little Pills' coming in at number 22.
“It's a bit surreal at times. When people embrace us on such a big scale, it's pretty humbling. You can't take it for granted.”
Since the band returned from the UK, Paul says they've been working on songs for their next album.
“We're pretty happy with the depth of different tunes we've got to choose from. That's sitting their baking at the moment while we tour.”
And what does 2018 hold for the band?
“Next year the plan is to go back overseas, ideally to the United States. Hopefully we can sort something out there with our friends Halestorm.”
