New Zealand First MP
NZ First has received an overwhelming amount of support following the announcement of the new government, with New Zealand First and Labour in coalition and the Green Party giving support by way of a supply and confidence agreement.
There were, however, a few small concerns raised by some people who thought that New Zealand would become a social welfare state with this new coalition or that our economic outlook was now somehow worse off than what it was under National.
Interestingly, many of those people who were initially concerned have come back to me expressing their delight with our new policy announcements, which include our $1 billion Regional Development fund and our planting one billion trees policy, which will play a big part in driving our economy.
I have full confidence in our new government and believe the trajectory we are now on will positively benefit all New Zealanders economically, socially and environmentally.
NZ First has always strongly believed that to become a great nation, we must build our economy from the bottom up. Raising the minimum wage to a living wage whilst introducing a tax package for businesses to minimise the increased cost is imperative. Creating jobs, increasing homeownership and wealth opportunity for Kiwis is essential.
The NZ First and Labour government will allow the regions to develop, it will create jobs and build much-needed infrastructure.
“In order for us to transform we first have to change” said someone smart, somewhere, sometime ago. We are now on that journey.
