Good Neighbour has a great connection with Z Service Stations which generously pay their staff to help in our community and, with the support from Ace Trailer Hire, with trailer use for our community work from time to time.
It really does make a huge difference to have these resource available when we are trying to help out in our community.
We were able to transport our barbecue to the park in Anzac Road and then take about 60kg of rubbish to the dump from litter collected in the park. This was part of our connection with residents in that community in partnership with Accessible Properties and Beautification Week. Youth from Bay Pathways also helped us with some of their regular volunteer hours they give us each week. There was a great turn-out and we all enjoyed our time together. We were able to have a neighbourhood barbecue and really connect with everyone. Thanks again for the great support.
Food Rescue began its operation in 2014, collecting food one box at a time and redirecting it. Now the team at Food Rescue processes a staggering two tonnes a day, with projections set to be 400-plus tonnes in the coming year. Food that was destined for waste from our local supermarkets is now going to a much better use out there in our community. Food Rescue currently gives food to more than 55 charities and organisations who support people in our community with programmes that offer wrap-around support to their clients, including community meals. This week Food Rescue celebrated a milestone, reaching one million kilogrammes of rescued food! Great work everyone.
