Charitable trio come forth

Ambassadivas Carol Parson, Paula Harrison and Sunnie Robinson.

The 2015 season of Tarnished Frocks and Divas is supporting three charities this year, with three women acting ambassadors, or more appropriately, ‘Ambassadivas', for the charities.

The show has incorporated fundraising into its ticket sales making is easy to purchasers to add a donation to their chosen charity. The Ambassadivas will provide another opportunity to donate by circulating prior to each show's commencement.

'We will be easy to pick – in retro 1950s dresses and wearing sashes,” laughs Paula Harrison, who is an Ambassadiva after being involved in previous shows as choreographer, dancer and singer. She represents Homes of Hope, the cast choice charity which provides safe loving homes for children who have suffered emotional and physical trauma.

Sunnie Robinson is representing the Breast Cancer Support Service. That Tarnished Frocks and Divas should support the Breast Cancer Support Service Tauranga Trust is a given, she says, as the show originated in celebration of a brave woman who succumbed to cancer.

'I have been aware of TF and D for years,” says Sunnie, 'and see this role as a good introduction to being more involved next show.”

As the third Ambassadiva, Carol Parson, points out, in supporting the Bay of Plenty District Health Board's Prostate Cancer Research Clinical Trials Unit, 'We are looking after the blokes too.”

Carol, who has appeared in previous shows, says people laugh when she says, 'I am prostate!” But there is serious intent. While Breast Cancer Support provides a free service to the over 200 women diagnosed with cancer in this region every year. Prostate Cancer Research aims to better understand the needs of men in the Bay with prostate cancer; some of the 3000 new cases diagnosed in New Zealand annually.

The Tarnished Frocks and Divas show season commences Wednesday September 16 and continues to Saturday September 19 with seats still available for some sessions. Book at eventfind.co.nz
