New phones, new fibre!

In an update to my post last week about Nokia, the company's director of design strategy, Marko Ahtisaari, has made an announcement at LeWeb in Paris.

In it he said that the company will be releasing new phones with a new interface based on the Linux distribution Meego.

He also made a significant comment about Android: 'We're interested in platforms where we can create value, and from the point of view of the device manufacturer, Android doesn't do that right now.”

Interesting statement.

I see ‘we' in Tauranga are to be blessed with fibre and high speed broadband. Well I say ‘we', it will never end up at my door; so I will be sticking with EOL.

This is really good news and plenty has been said about it already so I will not add to it except to say this: if fibre cables only last for 25 years, so what?

By then, thanks to the iPad and developments in mobile communications we will all be wireless and totally irradiated :-)
