Mahi makes great wines and this 2008 chardonnay from Twin Valleys Vineyard is certainly no exception.
The single estate wine from Mahi, really does express the individual characteristics of the vineyard from which it comes from.
The grapes are hand-picked and the wine made in an as natural manner as possible, with no chemical additions. The focus is on gentle handling and indigenous yeast ferment.
The wine comes from a small parcel in the Twin Valleys Vineyard located in the Fareham Lane area of Marlborough. The vineyard is owned and run by Pete and Anne Reed. The vineyard is situated around 25 kilometres for the sea, with a slightly cooler climate - which allows the grapes to ripen slowly retaining the fruit and mineral characteristics.
This wine would be lovely served with veal mixed with mushrooms, ham, pine nuts, rice, gruyere and spinach wrapped in pastry, and served with a Madeira and cream sauce.
