Bike Wise month began last night with a fantastic turn out for the first Urban Mountain Bike Loop. The evening has been one of our hottest so far and 35 keen cyclists, including beginners and experienced, joined Bruce Galloway for a 7.2km tiki tour of on-road and off-road tracks.

The group started at the Historic Village and made its way out to Bethlehem, then returned back through the Cambridge Road Park, the new home of BMX Tauranga.

The Urban Mountain Bike Loops are a great opportunity to learn about Tauranga's many cycle ways and build confidence on your bike with both on and off road tracks.

The next loop with Bruce will be next Wednesday, February 9, meeting at the Historic Village for an 11km ride.

Don't forget this Sunday, February 6, at 9am is the Tour De TECT All Terrain Park. This is an exploratory ride through the new trails at the TECT All Terrain Park. If you haven't been up there yet, this is a great opportunity to check it out with the park staff.

You will need a mountain bike, helmet, gloves, water and lunch. The ride is suitable for beginners and families. For more information or to register, contact Rasmus on 07 579 6742.

There is something for everybody this Bike Wise month so visit your local library and pick up your Bike Wise events calendar.
