What a fantastic start to the second week of Bike Wise. The week started with a great turn out for the Mountain Bike Tauranga Summer Series on Monday night. All ages and abilities turned up to tackle the tricky mountain bike trails at Summerhill Recreation Farm Park.

Mountain Bike Tauranga will be holding two more of these race nights as part of Bike Wise month so if you have done a bit of Mountain Biking and want to have a go at racing come along to this great social race night.
Last night Tauranga BMX club put on a ‘Give it a Go Night' for keen new bikers. A great turn out from club members and new bikers made for a great atmosphere at the BMX track at Sulphur Point. The club is excited with the developments of their new track at Cambridge Road Park where the new home for Tauranga BMX will be. They are holding an open day for the public at the new track on Saturday, February 19, come along to check out where the track is at.

Tonight at 5:45pm is the second of four Urban Mountain Bike Loops. Explore local cycle ways with Bruce Galloway, tonight's ride is 11km starting from the Historic Village. Also tonight is the first Bike Basics Workshop, there are three more through the month held at Koops Cycle and Avanti Plus Mount Maunganui. The workshops cover basic bike maintenance skills, places are filling fast for these workshops so phone (07) 578 0016 to book in now.
Looking ahead to the weekend, up at TECT Park on Sunday is the All Terrain Tracks and Trails Discovery. Suitable for intermediate riders this ride is 90 per cent off-road on narrow tracks. If you are interested, phone Rasmus on (07) 579 6742 to register.
