The first Bike Basics workshop was held on Wednesday night at Koops Cycles with a full house. There were many laughs as participants became familiar with changing a bike tube, checking for punctures and knowing how to set up a bike. On the same night we had a record number attending the Urban Mountain Bike Loop 2, 46 keen riders turned up to cruise the cycle ways with Bruce.

Yesterday morning I joined the Pedal Matua for Beginners group for a great ride around the Matua and Otumoetai cycle tracks. It was a grey day, but the rain held off for a few new riders to experience these fantastic tracks. We finished up the ride, getting muddy with a cycle down the beach. You can join Vic and the Pedal Matua group every Wednesday morning at 9am, they are always keen to see some new.

This weekend there are two events to look forward to. On Sunday the TECT All Terrain Park is holding the All Terrain Tracks and Trails Discovery from 9.30am-1.30pm for intermediate level mountain bikers. This ride is 90 per cent off-road so is suitable for riders who can handle their mountain bikes. Bookings are essential, contact Rasmus on 07 579 6742 to register.

The new to Tauranga, Frocks on Bikes are holding a Valentine's ride on Sunday at 1pm. Meet at Robbins Park for a romantic 7km ride before finishing up for a picnic at the Rose Gardens.

There is a red, pink and white theme so ladies wear your frocks and take your man along for a nice afternoon. For more information visit, www.frocksonbikes.org
