Morocco is absolutely amazing! From the crazy square and souks of Marrakesh, the magical retreats of the Riads, the spectacular Atlas Mountains, the Berber towns dotted all over the land, the nomads roaming the desert, the everlasting dunes of the Sahara, the green Oasis's flowing through the valleys, the 1000's of Kasbahs and the mind boggling Medina in Fez.
A trip to Morocco will always be remembered. Locals with a smile on their face, little kids running over just to say hello and the tastiest tajines and couscous.
The Intrepid Magical Morocco tour started in Casablanca, and traveled for 8 days through the Northern Region, including visits to Rabat, Meknes, Moulay Idriss, Volubilis, Fes, Chefchaouen, Tangier and Marrakesh. Travelling by local transport most days, we were totally immersed in the local culture and way of life.
The 3 day desert Safari into the Sahara – a true highlight of our journey. Travelling by mini-van through the Atlas Mountains, over the Oued Zat, we begin to climb up towards Tizi n' Tichka - the top of the pass over the Anti Atlas - winding our way through the valley of green fields, and beautiful scenery.
Every where we turn a new little town appears. Men riding donkeys carrying heavy loads, goats being herded by Berber women, children scampering off to school.... so much activity for such tiny places. We approach Oasis towns where Date Palms fill entire valleys.
Berber guides lead our camel trains into the desert, to enjoy the spectacular sunset over the dunes. The fiery orange landscape sharply contrasts with the unbelievably clear skies. Blues transform into purples and reds, as we are accompanied by our distorted shadows on the sands. The depth of the silence is breathtaking.
Morocco is an amazing country for those seeking an adventurous holiday destination.
