As the nights get shorter, it is a great time to invite a few friends around for a mid winter Christmas party.
Why not make a Crozier's Free Range Turkey the centre piece of your party. Our turkey received rave reviews from guests – moist and flavoursome, the limoncello and Italian sausage stuffing was superb.
In 1959, a 12-year-old Philip Crozier was looking for a way to make some pocket money. When a neighbour mentioned that there might be 'some money in turkeys”, Philip took his £5 savings and bought a pair of hen turkeys and a 'gobbler”, a male turkey. There was a lot to learn and a lot of mistakes to be made, but this was the beginning of Philip's lifetime obsession with breeding turkeys.
Today, Philip and his wife Judith run a 33 hectare turkey farm as a small, yet thriving family business. 'Turkeyville” is home of upwards to 20,000 white-feathered turkeys.
The turkeys are free to range and grub for foods outside and also get a mixture of natural grains, some of which are grown on the farm located at Dromore near Ashburton.
So make the time to plan a mid winters Christmas now. If you are not lucky enough to win this great prize, then you can pick a Crozier's turkey up locally from Provida Foods, Cherrywood Butchery or Bethlehem Butchery.
