Why did this happen to me?

We have no right to ask when a sorrow comes, 'Why did this happen to me?” unless we ask the same question for every joy that comes our way. -Philip F. Bernstein

When difficult things happen, how often do we slip into this type of thinking; 'why did this happen to me?”
It seems when things aren't going as planned almost everything seems to be affected by that negative situation. What is it then that prevents us from using this phrase when everything is going well. It seems that we almost need the difficulties to challenge us to grow and to balance us to recognise what we can also be grateful for when it comes to us.

How do you deal with the difficulties of life – do you attempt to avoid them or do you look at how you can use them to take you through to the next joy?
