But the circus stays in Tauranga.
The comments and accusations have been flowing on Sunlive – just like the beer around the rest of the country – about the 'Cup” debacle, or lack of it.
Too bloody late now I say. Tauranga has not only missed the boat, but has fallen off the wharf and no matter what we do, the boat is not going to turn around. So, like the boss and I are doing, we are travelling to a few party venues and the boss is spending his dollars in other cities, (well the ones he does not spend on me), shame, but there you have it.
To be sure, there has been some great sights to behold; particularly the Emerald Isles giving the convicts a spanking. The boys from across the ditch played like they still had the old ewes back legs still in their gumboots.
To continue with the review of the venues, lets look at the mainland:
Nelson, Trafalgar Park. The boss has been to this stadium many a time and it is a great place to watch the game and the ‘Lira' and the ‘Rouble' would have been pouring into the Nelson economy this week. I always thought Nelson was about five years in development behind Tauranga, how wrong can a dog be?
Christchurch. Sorry, but I have to give this place an honourable mention, no games, but it is not their doing, keep the spirit Christchurch.
Dunedin. A city that bit the bullet, went against all opinion and just got on and built a new stadium. Bloody brilliant! Everyone is just raving about the atmosphere inside and out and the old frosty city is feeling no pain (at the moment). Party on scarfies, but please now leave the sofas at home, you do not need to burn them to keep warm anymore.
Invercargill or ‘Tim's Town'. No matter what you think of the 'concrete mixer kid”, he has done an absolute gem of a job in the coldest city in 'Godszone”. Maybe the Tauranga rate payers can offer him a free lay, (oops that's not sounding right) on his new driveway we will build for him when we entice him to Tauranga. As I have said, he has stood up and got the job done for ‘Invers' and it has now got tourists in town spending.
He has spear-headed this place's revival and has fronted, when required. Not quite like our mayor, who I have not heard or seen for so long, I am wondering if he actually still exists. Go Tim!
Obviously there is Napier and Mclean park which I am sure will be sparkling white and Palmerston North and the ‘bucket heads' – you rock people, but lucky they are only plastic buckets, as at least if you get hit on the head, you will not be in a space that echoes. Hmm, the case maybe though that you all are a little pastoral and echoes are your thing, no worries.
Party on New Zealand and have fun safely.
Cheers all.
