It is brilliant having the little tyke around and she sure has been keeping me grounded.

We both got busted drinking out of the fish pond this week and I know the following years are going to be pretty much fun filled, it's so cool.

Ziwipeak Limited director Nigel Woodd introduces Flo to her new diet.

I did promise myself that I would not delve into the Rena debacle as the boss is so upset with the entire thing. I have had to keep an eye on him lately, as me thinks he is about to blow a seal, preferably one that is not coated in oil though. This nightmare has just about done him in and he must be really upset as he mentioned that for the first and only time he actually agrees with the Green Party – and I was getting a little concerned for the old boy when he started mumbling about finding a pair of roman sandals.Get it sorted!

Flo your turn; and please tell us what you think of it all so far.

From the puppy's paws

From Flo: This is my first column, with a bit of help from Sister Ady. She's been doing a fine job single-pawed on the dog column since the departure of old uncle Diesel. Now I'm on the scene and keen to help so it's the Ady and Flo Show.

Let me say right from the outset that there are a few things of major importance that stand out to this Labrador in my first few weeks.

1. Food.
2. Loving family.
3. Food.

Now that all seems fine and dandy when you're just nine weeks old and the whole world is a new adventure. But it ain't quite as straight forward.

For starters, my new dog trainer Wendy Graydon says there's no such thing as a dog's love for her family – so there goes number 2.

She reckons the people may love the dog, but the dog is an animal and doesn't love you back. Ha. She's clearly never met a dog capable of love or good grammar for that matter.
We're all going to take a bit of convincing on this no-love concept. I'm not much of a believer in theories. Like, they used to say that the earth was round, until the Rena sailed off the edge.

And items 1 and 3 come under the spotlight since I've learned there's good food and there's bad. As a Labrador, we rarely make the distinction, but the experts tell me that good dog nutrition is vital for continued health. What isn't good for my health is when Ady catches me with my chompers around her bone.

Fortunately, the boss has got me started early on the best there is: Ziwipeak.

Better still, it's local, made right here in the Mount and distributed to discerning dog owners all over the world. Me and Ady will be telling you more about this unique tucker in coming columns.

But basically, it's 95 per cent meat, which is what us canines are made to eat. Not fillers and binders or cereals and carbohydrates that tend to make up the bulk of most other pet foods.

I've learnt lots of other stuff in my short nine weeks:

1. I've learnt that ducks can fly marginally faster than I can run.
2. That chewing shoes is not allowed, but it's so much fun that I'm not about to stop.
3. That the poodle in reception at Ziwipeak has the best job in the world – going to work all day in a dog food factory.
4. That my head does not fit through the gaps in the backyard fence, no matter what the run-up speed.
5. That the black cat in the driveway called Chad does not mince words. He minces puppy noses.

That's all from the Ady and Flo Show. Go the ABs, go away Rena and we'll catch you next week.
