Choose your friends wisely when you’re young!

Who you hang out with matters more than you think. As a teenager, you’re shaping your identity, values and future. The people you surround yourself with have a huge influence on that. Proverbs 27:17 says: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”. That means your friends can either help you grow or pull you down.

Think about it – if you’re always around negative, disrespectful, or lazy people, it’s easy to start picking up their habits without even realising it. On the flip side, if you’re friends are kind, driven, honest and encouraging, they’ll inspire you to become your best self.

You don’t have to be perfect, and neither do your friends. But it’s important to be around people who challenge you in good ways — people who hold you accountable, push you to do better, and care about your future.

Choosing your friends wisely isn’t about being judgmental. It’s about protecting your heart, mind, and character. You become who you hang out with – so if you want to be strong, wise, and positive, hang out with people who are striving for the same things.

Don’t just go with the crowd. Ask yourself: Are my friends sharpening me like iron, or wearing me down? The right friendships can change your life. So be careful who you let influence you – your future depends on it. God bless.
