Hillsdene Wines on Cameron Road is a great place to visit, in fact you could do all your Christmas shopping in one hit if you tried (except for the children of course).

Doug has an excellent range of wines and beers, plus the knowledge and expertise to point you in the right direction.

His selection of single malt whiskeys has to be seen to be appreciated. I know my dad will be getting one in his Christmas stocking (sorry to ruin the surprise dad). There is also a huge range of gift boxes at varying prices.

The wine we tried this week was the Jules Taylor Sauvignon Blanc 2011, which just picked up gold at the Air NZ Wine Awards. A lovely expressive balanced wine, it's a nice light colour with aromas of passionfruit. A nice rich palate with grapefruit flavours up front, with a nice dry finish. A good example of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. On special at only $18.90 it makes good buying, well worth stocking up at this price.
