Here we are at week two and already things have started to change slightly in terms of attitude. I can tell this by the way they walked into the room on the first Monday compared to now. However, most of them are talking a lot less, although they all still migrate towards the back corner of the room as far away from me as possible, and I can't work out why!

It's great that week one has already established a lot of new rituals for people, some who have not exercised for years are grasping the rhythm and spirit of group training and previous Fitness Campers are even more focused and energised than ever before.
Fitness Campers are more prepared and as we enter the room they assist with grabbing medicine balls, bikes, rowing machines and weights. All the stations are designed for a full body workout through strength training. When all are set up and I have explained each activity, I ask if they understand and all reply with ‘YES', however, this week I explain that if they get it wrong then everybody will be doing 10 burpees. After a second explanation it's amazing how the concentration levels have increased as they now listen to my every word. It appears if I threaten them they listen and get it right!
Week two was based around strength training and establishing correct awareness on posture and techniques on all exercises. As the session starts they all expect a hard intensive, but achievable workout. Some think they can't possibly manage some of these stations, however, as they all quickly learn I will not accept the word CAN'T as we will always find a way to do! As the session ends I reiterate the importance of technique and posture in the strength training as I need it to be correct for the next eight weeks to have a positive and injury free outcome for them. This is not a quick easy learning process, but it will be LIFE changing as you utilise these disciplines in everyday life, exercise and sport!
LIFE Fitness Camps are unique to all other ‘boot camps' in the fact that we try to bring the strength and ability out of each individual whilst they are training in a fun team orientated group environment.
I am excited to see what week three will bring as we prepare for our Cardio week. People will sweat, moan and complain, those who thought they were relatively fit soon find out that maybe they are not, and those who were slightly reserved on their fitness levels acquire a new confidence as the realise they are fitter than they thought. So dear readers, if you are up to the challenge, please do at least a 1km run every day this week and if by the end of the week it is easy, then increase by 500m daily. Have Fun and I hope to see you around!
