Rain can t dampen the market

The weather has been a bit unkind lately to those involved in some key sporting and outdoor concert events in our region, however, those folk living on the many farms, orchards and lifestyle blocks will have welcomed the increased moisture.

What has not been dampened is the number of property owners seeing the present market as ideal to list their home for sale. We have seen certain stability in the property market for a while now and the Reserve Bank decision to maintain the current 2.5 per cent OCR has assisted in that.

However, the likelihood of increasing interest rates later this year has been signaled consistently over the past few months and that is acting as a key stimulus for buyers to become active.

So currently we have property owners wishing to sell, being motivated by a strong buyer demand at stable prices, and buyers motivated by the current window of opportunity at current competitive interest rates.

It's a good balance, and accounts for an increase in good properties coming onto the market, like those in this week's publication.

Happy hunting
