Claire Rogers - All about wine Every week I have the unenviable task of sampling a wine with a wine representative in order to bring you a cross section of wine to suit all prices and tastes in an easily digestible format (a tough assignment, I know). |
I do love a nice Pinot Noir, and this 2007 Lawson's Dry Pinot Noir is superb, with a mixture of black cherry, dark chocolate and exotic spice which combine to produce a delightfully complex nose.
The palate is elegant with good concentration and soft tannins showing blackberry, coffee and vanilla flavours.
Lawson's Dry Hills is a medium sized Marlborough wine company which has grown from processing 15 tonnes to 1000 tonnes, with approximately 80 per cent of the production exported to over 20 countries.
Their winemaking philosophy is focused on crafting premium wines that express the amazing flavours found in the grapes grown in Marlborough. The wines produced are elegant and fruit focused with strong varietal characters which have won numerous trophies, awards and accolades.
Daz, chef at No. 1 The Strand, has paired this lovely wine with marinated lamb loin and feta, in a polenta crepe with blackcurrant jus. It would also go very well with roast pork loin. Enjoy!
