Chia Seed and Protein Berry Smoothie

This week I have decided to use some of the vast knowledge and experience from the Bethlehem Health Shop – Jude and her team have been very supportive and helpful offering a wide range of products and advice to LIFE Personal Fitness athletes especially on our Sports Days and Group Training events.

An amazing new product that they have in store is the Chia Seed. It is described as a super food. Chia has many health advantages including a very low GI index, suitable for athletes, diabetics and weight watchers. It has a powerful brain food function and is an ideal whole food to incorporate in children's lunches also. It has a mild nutty flavour and can be used in salads, smoothies, cooked foods, breads and baking.
Chia is one of the most nutrient dense foods known to man.

Chia Seed and Protein Berry Smoothie

250ml chilled water
½ cup frozen berries
2 scoops protein powder
1 Tablespoon Chia Seed Mix – (Matakana brand available at Bethlehem Health Shop)
Place ingredients in a blender and beat until well mixed then drink immediately.
This smoothie mix is particularly great an hour before or after a training session.
