My parade was rained upon.

Possibly what some of our boys in black said on Saturday night in Dunedin, as the dastardly French with a Coq on their chest out muscled them. Why anyone wants to have one of those on their chest is beyond me.
Then on Sunday, just to rub salt into my wounds, I was on the cat walk at the Animal Antics fashion parade and a puffed up Poodle stole my limelight. Bloody mobile slipper, find a foot to slip into!
It was a great day out though, and many thanks to the great many people that turned out to see me strut my stuff. I even had a shower and dressed in my finest for the event. Though the French thing got in the way, at least when it came down to the after-match function, I was the only winner. As the picture shows, when it comes to food, no one gets in the way of the mighty chocolate crusader! And 'Ted” I have plenty of ways to deal with a pesky French man, so give me a call up, I'm always available.
And on to things available, Johnny my Aussie butcher boy in Gate Pa, has all sorts of goodies on special this week.

'Sweet bourbon porterhouse'

Ingredients
4 porterhouse steaks
½ cup sweet mustard
½ cup bourbon
3 medium shallots
Salt to taste

Method
In a large shallow bowl, mix mustard, bourbon and shallots together. Add salt to taste. Coat both sides of steaks with the mixture. Marinate at room temperature for 30-60 minutes. Grill steaks to your taste. Let them stand five minutes before serving.

'Bourbon daisy'

Ingredients
1½ oz bourbon
½ oz Southern Comfort
½ oz lemon juice
½ oz grenadine
1 oz club soda

Method
Fill shaker with ice and add bourbon, Southern Comfort, lemon juice and grenadine.
Shake and pour into Collins glass and top with club soda. Garnish with a cherry and a pineapple spear.
