Clayton Mitchell New Zealand First MP |
I was not surprised when waitress Amanda Bailey stated the Prime Minister would not listen to her repeated requests that he stop pulling her hair. After all, John Key has an extensive track record of not listening to voters.
Key is refusing to listen to the overwhelming percentage of voters currently opposing a flag referendum. He continues to ignore the majority on the sale of state assets.
Key bullied other members of Parliament when challenged on sending troops to fight ISIS.
He refused to listen to voters when he changed the 10-year NZ passport expiry period to five or when he passed the anti-smacking law.
Key ignored voter recommendations for reform of the MMP electoral system. And he is currently ignoring voters as they oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.
The TPPA would be the largest trade deal in history, involving the hundreds of millions of people of the Pacific nations.
Passage of the TPPA would give big, foreign corporations control over NZ and our laws that get in the way of their profits.
These corporations would be able to bring lawsuits against the NZ Government in an international tribunal of private attorneys, working outside of any nations' laws, with the authority to demand compensation.
For example, NZ laws prohibiting genetically modified foods from entering the country could be overturned by the same corporations that stand to profit from the sale of these goods. The TPPA makes corporations bigger than the state. This takes away the right of voters to make decisions over what's best for them. So, why won't John Key listen when we say ‘No'? Ponytails aren't all the Prime Minister's pulling.
