I have written before about a great product called Vendhq. It is I believe a great product and a great Kiwi start up story. I have known its founder since his south to north bike ride for charity which is when the idea came to him. Many hours on the open road to think.
A few weeks ago Vaughn tipped me off he had some exciting news coming soon. The product had been through some successful trials and had garnered some interest from investors.
One in particular: Sam Morgan of TradeMe fame. A great Kiwi name investing in a great Kiwi product.
The great thing about vendq is that it does what the cloud is good at, it reduces costs for the end user by minimising the systems they need to run and support. If you are setting up a shop, or even a chain, the potential cost savings are huge. It will run on pretty much any web capable PC or the iPad. Indeed the fashion retailer Gregory (Ricochet) are rolling it out on iPads to their 12 stores. So in-store mobile point of sales. Similar, but far superior to the service McDonalds use on busy days.
Vaughn took a great approach to the development and worked with what retailers need. So Vendhq works with your cash draw and your scanners and printers, gives you great flexibility in how you lay out your store.
Being a cloud based service does not make it insecure. If the connection goes down everything gets stored locally until it can be reconnected. And it is no different to trusting the bank or an online accounting system like that other great Kiwi product Xero, which it connects to to enter sales totals etc automatically.
If I was running a shop, it is what I would use. Go have a look at www.vendhq.com
By the way I have no affiliation, I just think its a great product, so to it seems does Sam Morgan. I can't be wrong in that case.
