Welcome to the beautiful Mauao on Saturday morning. The weather has started getting warmer so we decided to take our camp to a different level and test our fitness levels in a different environment.

Saturday morning, 7am and it was a beautiful day. We arrived at the beach with all our clients having a big question mark hanging over them as they have no idea what to expect.
From Mt Drury to the Mount we did a nice jog by the sea. Once down at the Mount we decide to push a little bit on the warm-up as every client has to partner up with another person and carry each other on their backs – this was just the beginning!
After we warmed up we went to the bottom of the steps at the base of the Mount. The drill was to run up and down the steps five times. After the run up the steps we got the red look as their faces were red, puffing and asking, ‘Are we going to walk up?' – the answer of course: ‘Yeah Right!'
So the second drill was to run up the track to the gate and down three times, and that's when they started feeling the intensity.
After they finished the three times up and down, we went for a nice power walk to the bottom of the steps and then a two minute break until the final drill. On this drill we ran up the steps on the steep side to the bridge and the orders were: ‘Don't stop until you reach the bridge; try to push your boundaries to see where it will take you.'
Just to remind you these people have been training for seven weeks and all their fitness levels have been constantly monitored by me. So if you decide to do something like this, the big key to succeed is do not reach the limit. If you feel sick or puffed then slow down as this is just one more day not the last day.
After they reached the bridge we decided to run down the Mount to the surf club with upmost caution and knowledge of their own bodies' limitations and the environment's hazards. By the time everybody reached the surf club, everybody thought it was all over and was amazed to finally reach the surf club, but again I was sorry to disappoint your feelings, but I decided to give them another set of drills at the base of the Mount, which as you can imagine the look of surprise on all their faces!
As we finish the drills we jogged back to Mount Drury where we were back at the starting point where we did our cool down and stretching. A big thank you to SMITH Sports Shoes and ARMAZEM restaurant for the spot prizes we drew on the day.
We are now on Face Book – check out 'Life Boot Camp”
