Life imitates art

There's only one thing better than a kid to play with. That's several kids to play with.
I got lucky this week down at The Strand.

While the election process was unfolding there were a few sectors of community who didn't give a damn. They were:
1. People who didn't vote.
2. Kids.
3. Dogs.
Categories two and three coincided, happily for me. I had three adoring fans keeping me patted, walked, fed, patted, walked some more, and then photographed before a much-deserved feeding again. Bliss.
Then they drew pictures of me. That got a bit tiresome, so I do confess to taking the odd nap during the portrait process. Fortunately, all the drawings portray me with eyes wide open, looking rather alert, dashing and awake. Maybe not strictly true to nature, but they say life imitates art.
It was quite a peaceful, even serene atmosphere. Fortunately the marauding German was absent, so I had the budding artists all to myself. I guess that will all change this week on her return, when everything will again become regimented and disciplined with German precision. I feel tired already. I can hear it now…
'You vill be ready for ze commands of der Pointer, Shockolade-Hund.”
But I'm probably not as tired as the wonderful folk who have been behind the scenes of the local body elections. It is a thankless task, dealing with politicians and wannabe politicians, and I know for a fact they don't always get treated with the respect they deserve.
So here's to the great people keeping our democratic processes ticking along.
Democracy was the winner on the day!
As with all good victories, they should be celebrated with a feast. In fact in the Chocolate Crusader's book, most events are best celebrated with a hearty meal. Events such as, waking up in the morning, bringing in the paper, staving off marauding cats, barking ferociously at shadows etc, etc.
Cheers all!
