A big thanks to Oliver from Red + White Cellars for tasting the lovely Envoy 2007 Chardonnay with chief Spy Valley winemaker Paul Bourgeios.
Given that I have thoroughly enjoyed this wine before, I am sure Oliver didn't find the task too taxing.
The Envoy 2007 Chardonnay is a classic pure chardonnay, full of fruit characters. Lovely white peach and hazel nuts, with a taut acid structure and well-balanced, integrated oak.
The grapes for this vintage were hand picked, whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented with wild yeasts. The barrels were malolactic-fermented and aged for 18 months. The wine was then blended and bottled without fining. Available from your favourite fine wine store.
