The winter indoor netball season is drawing to a close after three grading games and 14 weeks of competition. We are now in our final week before the finals series next week.
Semi-finals are played during the week with the two finalists from each division meeting in the major finals on Sunday, November 7. There will be over 140 people competing in 11 different netball divisions. Of the big teams from division one on Monday evenings, ‘Nuff said' look to be the team to beat, but with their captain, Kimball Tukaokao, out with injury this opens things up for the contenders. Sharnika Leopold and her team ‘UR Playing Us' are the defending division one champions and with Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic player Jodi Todd in their team you can't rule them out either.
In the other Monday night divisions, ‘Trustpower' look the team to beat in division two, ‘Wolfpac' in division three and the ‘Mount Breakers' in division four.
With the Tuesday night competition defending champions ‘Can't Touch This' look the team to beat again. After finally winning a final they will be hoping they can repeat their effort from the autumn competition back in May.
It took ‘Can't Touch This' six finals to finally get across the line, losing three of them by only one point. Oh the agony. As for the other Tuesday night divisions, ‘Newbys' should win division two and ‘Playaz' have the chance to repeat their 2008 season by picking up the division three championship. As for division four, this will be interesting with new comers ‘Cashed Up' (BNZ work team) and ‘Alaina's team' from Johns at Palm Beach Plaza Pharmacy looking like possible finalists.
Thursday night and ‘Quick Shifters' will be hard to beat in division one and ‘Jst 4 Fun' will be the same in division two. As for division three, this is a bit more open with work teams from ‘Seeka' and ‘Sun Media' all capable of winning through on their day.
Keep you informed who makes the finals and who the winners were.
