In the middle of spring we are very lucky for this weather and since the days are getting warmer we have decided to take our fitness camp outside.
As one of our first outdoor trainings we have a lot of people looking forward to having a taste of the outdoors training style and we have a lot of people who want to remember how good it is to be outside again.
On our first session we did a run up the Mount and it was cardio in particular on that day so on the following week we decided to bring the old school circuit to our beautiful main beach. We set up all the stations on the sand, and also continued working on cardio fitness.
In the second session outdoors, we reached 50 LIFE Personal Fitness members and on this particular day we did a relay circuit which they probably didn't notice, but the total running day was equivalent to 6km running.
On our third session outdoors we had the pleasure to be able to use Mount Drury grass area which was again set up as an old school circuit, but this time it was divided by three groups of 15 people. This was one group doing the ‘aerobic interval' and ‘cardio'. The second group was doing anaerobic exercise ‘weights' and the third group was doing long uphill running and the groups were rotating around each other.
Before outdoor training, it was a bit of a challenge – the reason being that the session was on Labour Day, a public holiday, and at 4pm down the Mount and that's when everything started.
Arriving down the Mount, one thing that came to my mind was this is going to be hard to find a park! It was probably our nicest holiday weather for the entire year so as you can imagine the Mount was extremely busy and happening.
So when I arrived and started to unload the trailer a lot of people started stopping to see what was going to happen there. We have the blessing to be a really nice day, but either that I was still expecting a really small group of only about 10-15 people where we usually had 30. I was surprised when my final count reached 22 as we can see 22 people decided to take time away from family and work on a public holiday and a beautiful day to train hard! I now had to try to make it for these people a really great workout and as the day progressed they pushed themselves hard and tried the best to complete the challenging course.
Coming down to the end of the session I decided they worked really hard so they deserved to have a bit of fun, so we packed all the gear up and we played a game of touch rugby. It was good to see some of these people who have been training hard and pulling faces actually have a bit of a laugh.
This brings me around to saying that ‘LIFE is too short to cry or feel sorry for things, if we fall we need to learn quickly how to stand up and when we stand up we need to look back and laugh about it because the worst part is gone and there is nothing else you can do that will change the past. The one thing you need remember is too learn to not make those mistakes again and if you do you must repeat this process again as this is LIFE!'
