No. 1 The Strand is bringing the best of both worlds to you on Wednesday, November 10, with five great wines matched with five great dishes.
Winemaker David Birt from Kina Beach Vineyard and Daryl Switalla, No. 1The Strand chef, team up to bring you what is set to be an informative evening of fine food and wine.
David with his depth of wine knowledge will guide you through the evening, explaining the winemaking processes that make up each wine, explaining their individual tastes and textures and the reasons why they have been matched with the particular dish.
Daryl Switalla has produced an outstanding menu to match with the wines. This week's featured wine the Merlot Rose will be matched with seared venison carpaccio, which will be served with caramelised ginger and peppered strawberry compote. We recently tried the outstanding Kina Beach Chardonnay at Salt Bar in Whitianga. This will be on the menu on Wednesday, matched with honey baked chicken breast, stuffed with spinach and red pesto and served with a cabonara sauce.
