Myriad of artists

The Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival will showcase an exciting mix of local, national, and international artists.

The range of work on display includes ceramics, pottery, glass, metal, abstract, watercolour, oils, mixed media, sculpture, jewellery, pastels, inks, wood, and chain mail.

Artists can be found in the gardens, hosting their own art stops, or at Bloom in the Bay, where each artist also has one of their works on display in the Festival Gallery at the Cargo Shed on the Tauranga waterfront.

Ulemj Glamuzina, a self-taught artist arrived from Mongolia 20 years ago. Over the last two years, she has won a Craig’s Aspiring Art Prize, and the People’s Choice in the 2022 Miles Art Award.

Recently, she’s been experimenting with charcoal, ink, and other mediums to capture the complexity of human experiences and the natural world.

Marlene Shores brings gourds to life through intricate carving, painting, dyes, and other embellishments.

Marlene will be giving live demonstrations onsite Friday and Saturday at 1pm.

Paula Knight has a background in botanical painting and now paints mostly NZ coastal sea landscapes in acrylic. Recent works feature larger than life, colourful native flowers, plants, birds, and butterflies.

Sue Mac Dougall is a renowned artist celebrated for her vibrant, bold, and flamboyant works.

Her art is a celebration of self-expression without boundaries, portraying a vivid tapestry of neon pinks, electric blues, fiery oranges, and lush greens.
