Greerton Village is throwing it back through the decades with The Greerton Retro Fest – a vibrant, vintage-themed celebration happening on May 31, from 11am-3pm.
This free, family-friendly event will feature live music, decorated shop windows and goodies, market stalls, and plenty of nostalgic charm, Greerton Business Association chair Cameron Templer said.
The Greerton Village Square outside the library will come alive with music from Indecisive and Mark Affleck, along with face painting, a vintage photo booth, and giveaways hosted by MC Brutus Powers.
“Visitors can also pick up a map and go on a treasure hunt through the village’s much-loved vintage, charity and fashion/accessory shops, with even a slice of cake and great coffee in one of the local eateries,” Templer said.
“Or pop into your favourite Greerton cafés for 1980s-inspired hazelnut lattes, retro-style coffee or chocolate milkshakes, pies, pizzas and classic burgers.”

To add to the fun, at 12.30pm will be the Greerton Retro Fest Op-Shop Challenge, where some “everyday legends” will be giving a twirl in front of judges at a vintage fashion runway to show how they’ve pulled together a themed outfit from Greerton Village’s thrift shops.
Check out the second-hand treasures, the winning “best-dressed” shop window, vintage goods and handmade items on display.
“Grab your friends, come for the rummage, stay for the entertainment and food. Retro Fest is your chance to explore Greerton Village – the hidden gem of Tauranga and support the locals who make it shine,” Templer said.
Greerton Retro Fest is on Saturday, May 31, from 11am–3pm. Entry is free, and all are welcome.
