A boy with no voice, and his dream is to be a singer.
Te Puke local Brent Eyskens lost his voice to a virus when he was young, and now the 19-year-old has a song to share with the world.
Brent wrote and recorded the backing track for his song ‘Breaking My Heart' and commissioned a friend to sing the lyrics.
Now he's entered his song, his story, into the E Tu Whanau song competition.
The competition tasked the writer to compose an unpublished original song that 'inspires positive change' by standing up and speaking out against domestic violence and bullying.
Brent would love his song to reach 1000 votes and be selected as a finalist in this competition. Voting closes on March 31.
