Well-known local artist Val Tubman won the Trustpower Supreme Award at Tauranga Society of Artists' 2016 Art Expo this month.

Members of the Tauranga Society of Artists exhibited their masterpieces at the Community Centre on Elizabeth St West on June 15-19.

This year, they were fortunate enough to have well-known Tauranga artist Richard Smith as the judge for the TrustPower/TSA Supreme Award.

Richard chose Val Tubman's piece as the winner of the Supreme Award, with Janice Giles awarded runner-up.

There were 79 talented artists exhibiting in the 2016 Art Expo this year, with the public able to view the original artwork the artists have created during the last 12 months.
