No area of government affects our day-to-day lives more than at the local level. Local authorities are responsible for making decisions which ensure quality of life for all of its citizens. It is also the main interface between the local population and Central Government. For local government to effectively collaborate with Central Government, it is crucial that we select the right leader to represent our city.
As Tauranga continues to grow, we need to make sure we have a leader who is pragmatic, strategic, and visionary to address the issues facing our city during this critical time. We need someone who has a proven track record in leadership and is committed to the wellbeing of our community. Their vision must include addressing the pressing practical needs facing our city such as roads and housing infrastructure. I would like to stress the high importance of voting on October 12. Having your say in who is elected to our local government will directly impact your life and the future liveability of our city.
I would encourage you all to be intentional about taking the time to learn about the candidates and what they stand for, so you can make an informed decision on how to vote. By voting on October 12, you will play a significant part in deciding the future of Tauranga. Don't miss out on the chance to have your say!
