Closing the income gap

Ian McLean
Spokesperson for the Green Party

Wherever you sit on the political spectrum, one way or another you are affected by child poverty, early childhood education, prisons, health challenges, dependence on non-renewable energy, poor quality housing, and more.

If you care enough about these things to want to improve them, then you are likely volunteering your time, giving your money, helping your neighbours, shopping carefully, and downsizing your car.

If you believe they don't concern you, think again. Welfare, justice and health form the biggest elements of the government budget, and are the primary cause of our public debt problem. You pay those costs.

Recent tax cuts delivered more money into the hands of the well off, increasing the gap between rich and poor. An upcoming meeting will explore that gap.

Like to chat about solutions? Come to the Wesley Centre, 13th Ave, Wednesday August 1, 7pm. Excellent speakers. Entry by koha.
