Protect yourself at all times

These five words are the most important spoken by a boxing ref before a bout, as Kiwis we could learn a lot from this.

For all of those that don't know I have been talked into the TECT Lord of Ring Boxing event being held in December 2012. While not quite the same as being chased down by an enemy jet plane this does make for wonderful motivation.

As Kiwis we protect ourselves in a number of ways including using life and sickness/income insurance. In an article I recently read it suggested only 20% approximately of us protect our income. I know you may feel you are not likely to have a stroke or a heart attack or even cancer but the fact is it does happen - ask any medical professional. I understand $100 a month may seem a lot with all the other commitments you have but if you look at whatever it may cost to protect your income as a percentage of your overall income I believe your perception of the cost may improve.

Remember if you don't protect yourself you are walking into a fight with no guard, so you are either mad or not particularly forward thinking.
