Computers have lots of memory but no imagination

Computers are a normal part of our lives these days. We probably wonder how we ever did without them.

However, it's important to note that computers are not a replacement for what we contribute as human beings. Whatever use they are, we are the ones who operate them – this seems obvious – but it can be a useful reminder. In the recent storms, when many in our country were without power, they experienced what it is like to be without the usual modern conveniences. They would have 'discovered anew” what it is like to communicate in real time – and explored other ways to entertain themselves (and probably keep warm). Computers are wonderful but don't lose sight of the fact that they are there to help us – rather than run us.

Do your devices rule you or are you the one in control? How likely is it that you and your family could choose periods of time to be device-free?
