Snow bunnies will be pleased to know there's snow on the way.

Unfortunately, I killed a snow bunny in the weekend. However, the rest of you can carry on enjoying the flurry of cold white stuff that is blowing around the nether regions.

The Newshounds took a road trip south to friends on a farm this week, and encountered a fair bit of snow, and I had a great time romping around. It wasn't my fault the snow bunny decided to do a runner. Someone had to stop it. Turned out the snow bunny was quite big and fast, and probably not a bunny at all. More like a hare.
But eventually we nailed it. No pest is too fast for Flo's Hare Removal Services. Hare today, gone tomorrow.

It must have been a very nervous hare, because it lived on the same farm as my friend Reece. He is a retired greyhound, who specialises in chasing the legs off anything resembling a hare or a rabbit. He can do a lap around the house for every single lap of the clothesline by Lucy the Labrador.
Reece was pretty impressed with my hare, and surprised he'd missed one.
Anyway, Ruapehu opens this weekend for those of you who prefer the more gentile mountain past-times, such as sliding down. Two metres of snow fell on the mountain in the few days we were travelling.
And if you're off to the snow, remember to make suitable alternate plans for your critters.
It's all very well charging around these alpine pursuits and chasing pesky pests, but the best place for a pooch in this weather after a quick frolic is in front of a cosy fire, curled up with the cat.
Who, thinking about, actually looks a bit like that hare…
