Play in the Bay is kicking into gear for the last half of the year with Move It month in August, followed by Activate Month in September, Outdoors Month in October and Water Month in November.
It can be hard to stay motivated throughout winter but keeping your body moving and active can go a long way towards resisting winter ills and keeping on top of your health. Play in the Bay may be just what you need to help you find something to keep you active through the colder months.
Move It month is packed with beginner activities suitable for all ages, abilities and interests. The idea is you can have a go at a range of different activities so you can find something you really enjoy.
Have a go at Pa-Kua martial arts and acrobatics; this is a non-competitive martial art suitable for 15 years and up.
If you are a new mum Skipfit might be for you, this postnatal fitness class is a mix of cardio, strengthening and toning exercises and you can even take the littlies along with you. The month also includes BMX and scooter school, badminton, smooth movers exercise class and much more.
The brand new 2013/14 Play in the Bay activity directory is also out and available now. The directory includes all the different activity options available in your region to help you get active. Martial arts groups, dancing, yoga, walking/tramping groups, bowls are just a few of the many activities you will find. There is something for everyone and this is a great resource to find out about the wide range of activities that are available in your community.
So... no excuses this winter check out the Move It month calendar and the brand new Play in the Bay Activity Directory and try something new to motivate you through the colder months.
To get your hands on the calendar and directory pick one up from your local library or download from www.sportbop.co.nz/playinthebay.
