What a year for Papamoa!

Papamoa Unlimited

Papamoa Progressive Association

Declared New Zealand's fastest growing region in the 2013 Census, the heart of Bay of Plenty's building boom and receiving approval for a targeted business rate to promote Papamoa as the best place to live, play, work and shop, are just a few of the highlights.

Papamoa is beginning to unleash some of the untapped potential, which all of the locals have known about for years.

Papamoa Unlimited – the retail and business-focussed entity of Papamoa Progressive Association – formed in November, and by December had successfully lobbied Tauranga City Council for a special rate targeted to businesses for promoting events and the unique benefits of doing business in our slice of paradise.

The calendar is beginning to be filled with events that will involve all sections of the local community. From the Santa Parade to fun runs, from beach walks to lifesaving – we are only limited by your imagination.

Papamoa Progressive Association and residents held monthly meetings with a diverse range of speakers, including, Roger King (marine contractor for the Rena's insurance company), Mayor Stuart Crosby, TCC CEO Gary Poole, our new Palm Beach Plaza manager and representatives of local law enforcement. All speakers provided a unique perspective on public issues with entertaining and well thought-out presentations. Attending each meeting were the ward's councillors (formerly Wayne Moultrie and David Stewart), now Clayton Mitchell and Steve Morris; and about 100 locals. It is great also to see at large councillor Matt Cowley being concerned about the growing pains being experienced here.

With 2013 brining a number of exciting changes – we're sure 2014 will do the same and more.

Happy holidays from the team at Papamoa Progressive Association and Papamoa Unlimited.
