Congratulations Kawerau! It has been a great few months for the town of Kawerau as we make the news for all the right reasons – the Prime Ministers opening the extension of the SCA Kawerau Tissue Site, the town's 60th birthday plans, and recent well-hosted events like the 2013 World Rafting Champs and Street Legal.
Events like the opening of the SCA site remind us that Kawerau is a great place to do business – we have the ideal location, the space for growth, the energy source, the infrastructure and an up-and-coming workforce to fill new roles.
And for those of us who live here, we know that it is a great place to live as well as work!
Council is working with other key players in the district to build on this momentum through Kawerau's Industrial Symbiosis initiative.
Industrial Symbiosis is a smarter way of doing business by creating efficiencies and opportunities and making sure nothing goes to waste.
It's about collaboration between like-minded parties to demonstrate the amazing advantages of investing in industry in Kawerau.
I look forward to seeing this project gain on the wins it has had in the last couple of years and get even more traction in 2014.
