Deliberations

Catherine Stewart
Tauranga City Councillor

Tauranga City's elected members have begun deliberating on the council's 2014/2015 Annual Plan decisions in the chambers this week.

Swimming hours are to remain ‘status quo' to reflect community feedback over reducing hours of access. User fee prices for pools will go up from between two to five per cent.

The Otumoetai swimming pool will remain under Bay Events stewardship and no further consideration will be given to vesting the pool to the Otumoetai Swimming Club.

During the 10-year plan elected members will consider issues such as extending pool hours and a roof or cover for the Memorial Park pool.

Coming up for debate is the proposed Greerton Library, mobile library bus and Marine Precinct.

Hairy MacLary fundraiser

Last Sunday many people – and their dogs – joined in the fundraiser walk from Memorial Park to the CBD waterfront to raise money for the Hairy MacLary project.

There was a competition for dogs that looked most similar to the dogs from ‘Hairy MacLary from Donaldson's Dairy'.

Well done to Margaret Murray-Benge, Lions Club and others who got behind the event.
