With Parliament wrapping up I'll now be able to spend even more time in Tauranga, working hard to share our message. And it's a simple one. Last election we laid out our four priorities for the term: responsibly managing the Government's finances, building a more competitive and productive economy, delivering better public services and rebuilding Christchurch.
And we have delivered on these promises. The Government's books are back in black, employment and wages are up, more people are in work and off the benefit, exports are high, inflation is low, crime is down, student achievement is up and the Canterbury rebuild is well underway.
We have a record of stable and purposeful leadership, and the best way to ensure New Zealand keeps growing is by returning a National-led Government on September 20.
During the last six years, amidst all the sideshows and distractions, we've been focused on the things that matter to New Zealanders and their families.
I'm proud to be a part of this National Party team. Under John Key's strong political leadership our sensible, forward-focussed policies and the hard-work and entrepreneurship of New Zealanders have come together – and we're seeing the results. All sorts of things we might once have thought difficult, are now happening.
It is a privilege to be your local Member of Parliament and I hope to be able to continue to be so after September 20.
There's a positive mood in our country, and National's leadership has had a hand in creating that.
So we're heading into the election on September 20 focused on building on the gains that New Zealanders are enjoying. If we keep going, New Zealand will keep growing.
