Ever needed an excuse to grow out those luscious locks into a glorious mullet?
Well, Greerton volunteer firefighter Aaron Moore has some news for you.
Mullets for Hope is your chance to grow out your mop in sign of solidarity and a sign of hope as funds are raised for the I Am Hope Foundation which supports those struggling with their mental health.
The nationwide movement has found itself in Tauranga for everyone to get behind the cause.
“I was told about Mullets for Hope and as I was already growing one, I thought I would jump on the bandwagon.
“I have seen close friends and family suffer from mental health and would just like to help.”
Aaron says 10 months ago he was having a contest between himself and his son for who could grow the better mullet and encourages others to do the same.
The volunteer firefighter has a GiveaLittle page named Mean Mullet Mean which has currently raised $250. “The campaign finishes on September 15. My goal is 1k, but anything more than this is a bonus.
“I think it is a really good charity as I’ve seen friends and family go through mental health issues and they need all the support they can get.
“It’s good to see people getting help with mental health, especially the younger generation,” says Aaron.
“Get behind this, it is for a very good cause. You never know who might need help in the future, close friend or family member.”
