A vibrant new exhibition is set to ignite interest in porcelain art this month as All Fired Up, presented by the Tauranga Porcelain Artists, opens at The Pothouse Gallery in the Historic Village.
Running until October 18, the exhibition celebrates the ancient yet ever-evolving art of porcelain painting. Hosted by The Incubator Creative Hub, All Fired Up showcases a striking variety of painted porcelain works—from elegant vessels and intricate jewellery to contemporary abstract pieces.
Far from traditional decorative plates, the exhibition highlights the adaptability and modern flair of porcelain artistry. The works on display span three distinct styles: timeless traditional motifs, sleek modern designs, and bold abstract expressions.

“Our Pothouse Gallery is dedicated to showcasing a multitude of ceramics techniques and styles,” said Simone Anderson, director of The Incubator Creative Hub.
“We aim to represent the incredible diversity of talent and associated skills in the ceramic arts, and we really welcome this group to share their specialised practice with our audience.”
Each artwork in All Fired Up undergoes a complex, multi-step firing process, where artists layer lustres, pigments, and metallics to achieve vibrant, glass-like finishes. This transformative technique is a cornerstone of the group’s artistic process.

“The art of painting on porcelain is centuries old, but it is constantly evolving with new materials and techniques available,” said Pam Brennan of the Tauranga Porcelain Artists.
“We are able to push the boundaries and give this traditional craft a whole new dimension, resulting in truly contemporary designs.”
The Tauranga Porcelain Artists is a collective of passionate local creatives who meet weekly to refine their skills and explore new approaches to porcelain painting. Their dedication is evident in the diversity and technical precision of the works featured in the exhibition.
