Pāpāmoa Rugby Club is set to launch its first women’s rugby team, to compete against teams across the Bay of Plenty in 2026.

To kick things off, the club is hosting an open day this Sunday, November 2, inviting females aged 16-plus, regardless of experience, to come along and see what women’s rugby in Pāpāmoa is all about.

The event will feature a fun and inclusive afternoon of skills and drills, followed by a barbecue and a Q&A session with the team’s coaches and management.

According to the club, it will be a great chance for newcomers to connect, learn, and be part of building something new in the local sporting community.

The open day runs starts 2pm at Gordon Spratt Reserve in Pāpāmoa.

Organisers encouraged attendees to bring boots or sneakers – and a friend or two – ready to enjoy the afternoon.
