This year the popular Fieldays event will be pioneering a new digital future as it heads online.

Following the government announcement in March to cancel all large gatherings of more than 500 people due to the COVID-19 virus, the organisers of Fieldays knew this was an opportunity to adapt the annual event in an innovative way.

'We'll still be delivering a world class event on the world stage – albeit a digital version,” says NZ National Fieldays Society CEO Peter Nation.

'The event is treasured, not just to the agricultural industry but as Kiwis altogether.

'Digital visitors will be able to pick and choose what they wish to view and at whatever time and pace they wish to do so. The beauty of a virtual experience is that people can enjoy the elements of Fieldays minus the health risks.”

Fieldays has grown significantly from humble beginnings in 1968, to become the largest agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere, bringing town and country together.

Focusing on the four pillars of innovation, education, internationalisation and technology, Fieldays at Mystery Creek has attracted more than 1000 exhibitors and more than 131,000 people through the gates over the course of the four days.

Fieldays 2019 generated $549million sales revenue for New Zealand businesses and an injection of $249million to the national GDP.

From good ol' Fieldays specials, to live entertainment, demonstrations and competitions, Fieldays will continue to connect, trade, network and provide a learning platform at Fieldays Online from July 13-26.
