We are now into our second week of our great adventure through the United States and are finding the best laid plans are sent to try us.

In week two we entered Montana, so far our favourite state. We called into yet another small town Kamiah, walked into the local bar to quench our thirst after another long hot day and were pounced on by the locals, first a local Mountain man long beard, rather scruffy character, who wanted to know all about us.

We sat chatting with another local couple who arrived on their Harley and invited us to come out on their bike.

When the man, whose nickname is Rabbit, offered to show us his gun, we politely declined.

The next day after riding through beautiful countryside we arrived at Flathead, Lake Polson and treated ourselves to two nights of luxury right on this beautiful lake.

Next morning we rode 10miles to this quaint town called Bigfork, similar to Arrowtown.

I walked into the local real estate office filled with bear skins, stuffed moose heads on the walls. Talking to the local agent he told me this summer is the best in the last five years and the top end of the market is selling well.

His last sale involved driving his client 1300 miles to a ranch in the state of Montana – very impressive.

Next day we rode to the Glacier National Park where we enjoyed the most breath-taking scenery we have seen, before travelling onto Buttee, the region's wealthiest mining town in the late 1800's.

We stayed at the Finlen Hotel, whose guests have included President Kennedy.

On to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming for two nights to experience the biggest geothermal area in the world.

It erupts every 600 years with the last eruption 640 years ago.

We got up close and personal with wild Buffalo crossing the road. Turns out they are very unpredictable animals, and with a bull only a metre away from us on the bike, it was very scary.

I told Mike to put the power on and get out of here, I did manage a photo, shaky as I was.
