The Kiwisport Regional Partnership Fund is a three-year government funding initiative topromote organised sport for school-aged children and is managed by Sport Bay of Plenty for use in Bay of Plenty communities.
The allocation is calculated on a per-capita basis based on the number of students in each region – and the Bay region has $580,000 per annum to distribute.

The Regional Partnership Fund has very specific purposes:
- To increase the number of school-aged children participating in organised sport – during school, after school; and by strengthening links with sports clubs.
- To increase availability and accessibility of sport opportunities for all school-aged children to participate in organised sport.
- To support children in developing skills that will enable them to participate effectively in organised sport.
Funding rounds are held annually in September for kickstart projects up to $2000 and major projects up to a maximum of $30,000.
As of June 30, 2013, a total of $2,942,397 has been invested into local schools, sporting organisations and community groups with the community contributing another $1,419,366 to deliver initiatives to increase participation in organised sport. In September this year, a further $75,000 has been allocated to kickstart projects throughout the Bay of Plenty.
As a result of this investment, there has been more than 311,095 primary and secondary school-aged children participating in a Kiwisport project. Projects range from programmes delivered in schools, holiday programmes, before and after school; and also sporting clubs through their regular competitions.
The next funding round will be in September 2014.
