Is party politics still serving New Zealand democracy the way New Zealanders want it? Have we become distanced from owning our political processes and outcomes?
In the last election more than 800,000 registered voters, disillusioned with the current political, system failed to cast a vote.
These disenfranchised voters in my observation and from meetings about the country do care, are concerned, but feel no one listens to them, that they are disconnected with the decision makers in Wellington.
How can the average citizen be involved without joining a party?
Ownership of NZ politics has become party politics, and parties we know require significant funds and funds we know come from large corporations and the wealthy. No wonder Mr, Mrs or Ms Average no longer feel included.
Party policies are determined by the funders. How many bills have we seen recently passed that national TV polls signalled no support for?
Change is coming, a fresh new, welcome breeze on our political landscape that promises hope, strength, integrity and democratic inclusion for all constituents.
The New Zealand Independent Coalition realises what the rest of the world appreciates, that ultra-fast broadband can revolutionise how constituents can be included and feel a part of the political decision making process.
This change will enable direct and inclusive democracy.
